One can not live on Bread and Yarn alone

It has been a productive week in my adventures of making stuff.

I decided it was time to do something about my freezer full of bananas. They kept falling out every time we opened the door and it was getting old. Here is proof of the mass of bananas.

What a big bowl of bananas!!!

Adding to the baking bread fun was that I had gotten a bunch of zucchini from a co-worker. When all was said and done I made 12, count them TWELVE loaves of bread. Holy cow!

The other excitement happening is that I recently visited a wonderful Alpaca farm in Oshkosh called Apple Orchard Alpacas. Find them here: http://www.appleorchardalpacas.com.

I bought some beautiful roving that is so incredibly soft and a gorgeous soft brown color.

I have spun it into about 1200 yards of lace weight(ish) singles.

I read recommendations to then full/felt the singles when setting the twist, so I did that and it seems to be working well! I am not the most consistent spinner, but this is the thinnest I have ever spun before so I am very proud of that.

I then decided I should start knitting my shawl! I SHOULD had worked on finishing my tea cozy, or the denim shrug I am working on, but what fun is that? Here is Chart 1 finished in the Hidcote Shawl by Miriam L. Felton.

I can not believe how soft and beautiful this is. It will make knitting it so much more fun! I am also using my new Bryspon circular needles. I am not so sure about them, I might need a sharper point, and the transition between the needle and the cord is not as smooth as the Addi Turbos. I will continue to given them a good shot though.

More to come! Hopefully we get get some sewing done in the coming days too!
