April Showers

Things have been busy busy busy around here. I keep meaning to take some ‘final’ photos of the inside of the house. Sorry. That will wait for now. But the last week it has been chilly and rainy. Real rain, not that fake Portland rain we normally have. Perfect knitting weather.

But for now, what you do get is an update on all the knitting! I realize it has been a while since there has been a good solid project update. So here it goes:

The Heirloom Project
I am working on this double wedding ring blanket for my brother’s upcoming wedding. The pattern can be found here. I am using Knit Picks Shine Sport and size 3 needles.

This is all I have done so far, but I am liking how it is coming together so far. I am not knitting everything in separate pieces like the pattern says, instead I am doing as much without seaming as I can.

Joel’s Sweater
This project has been a while in the making. It is mostly of my own creation, and I am using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece Worsted with size 7 needles. Horray, it is past the armpits! Joel has tried it on and it is fitting him wonderfully.

Table Runner
I am knitting this table runner for the pattern here. I am using Elann Incense and size 6 needles. I have admired this pattern for a while, and was excited to have an excuse to knit it. The yarn is really nice, and I am thrilled with how this is turning out. I am knitting it two at a time from each end, so that both sides end up the same size. I am going to knit until my yarn is almost gone, and then do the middle joining section. Sorry it was hard to spread it out for a good photo. I tried to get a closeup to see the detail.

Steeking Sweater
I am working on this self-design colorwork sweater that will become a cardigan. I am using Knit Picks Swish worsted for the grey and Knitted Wit fingering held double for the color sections and a size 6 needle. I finished up the body and I have started on the sleeves. I only have about an inch done on the sleeves, I am knitting them 2 at a time. I tried to show the body of the sweater, but since I am doing the sleeves it was hard to get a good angle on it.

Citron Shawl
So I was bored with knitting all these above projects, and earlier this week decided to start a new shawl. So I started the Citron shawl. This is a mystery wool, laceweight that is hand dyed. I am using size 5 needles. It is looking good so far, I like the mostly mindlessness of it with just a little extra to keep it from getting boring.
