Back during the Sock Summit I took a class by Janel Laidman about Sideways sock construction. The blog post about that is back here. In the class she gave us a copy of her Talking Fish pattern from her new book The Enchanted Sole. I got one sock done pretty quickly after the Summit was done, but the second sock fell on the back burner for a while. This last week since finishing the sweater jacket I decided to tackle it and get these socks done!
I used a local yarn called Bambuki from Dicentra. It is a Superwash Merino, Bamboo, Nylon blend. The colors are electric and happy shades of turquoise, lime green, purple, red and yellow. I used about 85% of the skein.
It is a sideways knit feather and fan pattern with shaping for the toes and heel and then a big long Kitchener stitch up the side and a small seam at the end of the toes.
The intense increasing and decreasing for the heel was a lot of fun in my opinion.
The bottom of the foot, heel and toe are regular stockinette stitch.
This yarn was amazing with the color changes and beautiful stitch definition.
Overall: very happy with the socks. I kind of wish I had made them one pattern repeat longer because they are a bit on the short side for my liking, but I still like them a lot.
