Another Adventurous day in Hong Kong

Today was my one real day off, so I made sure to sleep in a little and had room service breakfast :)

My coworker and I then met up at noon for some dim sum in the mall ajoining our hotel.  Check it out!  We are pretty sure there was a wedding here yesterday (Saturday).

Isn’t it beautiful for a casual dining restaurant?  And check out our beautiful dim sum lunch!  Yummy!

I then drug my coworker on the quest for what I have been told is the best yarn shop in Hong Kong: Tailor & Alteration.  Man it was hot out!  I looked online before we left and with the humidity it felt like 95 degrees!  Yuck!  We found our way to the shop pretty well.  Here is a look inside:

The biggest difference between the yarn shops here and back home is you can not touch and feel each yarn.  They are all in plastic bags.  As were the books, which made it very hard to browse!  I did find some yarn though…

It is a silk blend, sport/DK ish weight.  I had a hard time taking a photo in my room, but it is a really pretty rich deep blue color.  I intend to use this for the Emerald Seas top.  I have been wanting to make this for a while and I think it will be fun!

I also got this nice brown Mondial Ciao fingering weight wool/nylon blend.  I am going to use this for a pattern I bought last year from Penny Straker Baby Owl sweater.  This is for a potential future child of mine and Joel’s.  Very potential and extremely future, no getting up of hopes people!

There were a bunch of real Japanese amigurumi books, and this one looked really cute, so I got it in hopes I can somehow translate it to somehow make these little cuties!

Oh, yeah, and since they were cheap I decided to get a few more Addi’s to fill out my collection.  Done and Done.

The shop is located in the Kin Tak Fung Commercial Building in Causeway Bay.  467 Hennessey Road, suite 14/F.  And if you become a member for $100 HK you get like 15% off everything.  It was a sweet deal.  I will definately be hitting this place up in potential future trips to Hong Kong.

A few other things bought throughout the day as were were wandering around Hong Kong were:

Really nice, super cute bag from a little shop down in the subway station (it is like malls underground, seriously).

We stumbled upon a little DVD/CD store and wow! The new Star Trek movie that just came out a week ago is available on DVD!  How awesome!  I am going to put it in once I am finished writing here, I am interested to see the quality and I am sort of hoping for it to be filmed in the theater, but we will see.

OK, off to watch Star Trek and start packing my bags, I leave again in the morning for another trip into China, this time a whole new direction and location!  Yay!
