So it was my friend Paul’s birthday last week and I decided I needed to make him a cake. But no, not just any cake. A rainbow cake! I had recently seen a blog post about this here. YAY! How fun, I thought.
I used Betty Crocker (time crunch) and made it following the directions. Then, I split it into 6 even portions.

Rainbow cake starts off as separate colors
I used the wonderful magic of gel dyes. I then started into the rainbowing.

Rainbow cake layers - pre baking
Joel had the brilliant idea to use rainbow chip frosting. AWESOME!

Its a secret. No one will know what lies inside!
As I cut into the cake at the party I heard squeels and ooing as color started to poke through the frosting. Look how excited the birthday boy was!

Happy Birthday Paul!

What happy cake!
So here is the final result after the cake was half devoured. The bottom layer looks tiny, but I was a little over zealous cutting off the done that formed during baking. Oh well. It was still awesome!

Rainbows!
I was happy with how everything turned out, and everyone seemed to love it. Yay! Another successful birthday accomplished! Happy Birthday Paul!
