Happy Fall Everyone!

The sade state of my yard

The sad state of my yard

Fall is in full force!  Sadly, the colors aren’t coming out very nicely around here.  I have some sad brown leaves in my sad brown yard.  But I love fall, just it normally has more color to it!

I am going to show you something funny before I get into my current projects.  This is where I discovered Mocha last night.  Notice the two comfy cat beds in the background?  Yeah….

I will start with the yummy first.

Blog readers, please let me introduce you to… Olive Chicken.

Olive Chiken is something Joel came up with (or stole the idea from someone, but I will give him credit).

Ingredients:

  • pasta (we like rotini)
  • chicken-thawed (Joel prefers boneless skinless thighs, but I talked him into breasts as a healthier option)
  • Olive Tapenade (last night we used Cantare brand)
  • chopped Pine Nuts (optional) (could substitute with nut of choice)

Prep time: 0 minutes

Cook time: maybe 15 minutes?

1.  Boil some pasta (sorry, no photo of that).

2. Saute chicken with Olive Tapeade, turning chicken until it is cooked through.

2. Saute chicken with Olive Tapeade, turning chicken until it is cooked through. (We add some chopped pine nuts at this point because we like the extra crunch.)

3. Serve chicken and a scoop of olives over the pasta.

3. Serve chicken and a scoop of olives over the pasta.

That’s it!  If you could smell the beautiful aroma coming from this plate you would just die.  I am traditionally not a big olive fan, but this is delicious.  I do not know why, but something about the smell reminds me of the “chicken tonight” my mom would make back in the day.  But that was a completely different dish.

Joel said I should post a picture of my salad because it was “pretty”, so here you go

Keris new favorite salad: greens, balsamic vinegar dressing, gorgonzola cheese, chooped walnuts and craisins.

Now, on to the crafty part of our program:

Some of you may remember me mentioning some skirts I was making back here.  Well, I repaired the serger malfunction and got to work on finishing them.  And here they are!  Both with LOTS of pleats, but the fabric really called for a more tailored look.

Pleated Brown Skirt

Pleated Brown stripey Skirt

Brown skirt fabric was bought at Jo-Ann’s a month or so ago when they were clearance-ing things out to build the new store.  It is a beautiful chocolate brown with tiny teal and pink and purple and gold stripes in it.  No pattern, just winged it.

Grey skirt fabric was purchased a while back (1 year or more) at a Walmart clearance table for $1/yard!  It has been sitting in the fabric dresser waiting to be made into SOMETHING!  Your wish is granted.  Again, I just winged this one too.  Sorry for the appearance, I HATE ironing, so it is a little wrinkly.  It has a great flip when I walk.  I love it!

So there you have it!  By the way, as I am sitting here writting this I am listening to a new album I got from iTunes.  If you like happy sounding, light, airy music this album is great!  Lenka by Lenka.

Happy Fall everyone!
