We’re having a heat wave.

It is HOT!  Oh my goodness.  Just checking the garden was making me sweaty!  Luckily Portland is nice and dry, yesterday I was watching the evening news and it was 98 but only 15% humidity.  Oh, and speaking of garden, look how huge it has gotten in only two weeks!  You can see how big from photos here.

Plus, I just love that not only are the plants getting big, that the fruits and veggies are starting to grow!!!!

In addition to watching my garden grow, I have been playing with my new wool lately.  I have been experimenting with scouring the wool and it has been going extremely well.  I have been picking the wool and then putting it into small bundles in pillow cases in the washer.  A few washes and a few rinses, and then drying has lead me to this!

They are both so wonderfully soft and squishy and crimpy.  Yum.  It has been so much fun.  So then I had to clean some of the llama to blend with the coopworth.

So I took the coopworth and fluffed it (Joel helped too!) and blended it with the llama in my new drum carder (oooohhhhh) and I got this!  Amazing!

It is so wonderful!  I am going to make lots of these.  It is so soft and bouncy and squishy!  Here’s another shot.

So there are two batts now, and many more to come.  I can not wait to get to work on more of this.  And a batt comes together pretty quickly if you pre-fluff the fiber.  And if anyone might be interested in one or more of these batts I might be willing to make some for you!

Lastly, I leave you with a fun photo I just took of a scene in the living room.  It appears my shamrock plant wants to get out!
