Sock Summit Day 2

Oh, it has been a long day.  Today was much easier to decide what to wear.  I went my my Hidcote Garden Shawl.

Lori and Jenny picked my up to go get our tickets for the World Record Breaking Knitting.  We got to the Convention Center at 7am and snatched out tickets before grabbing a quick breakfast.

I was back for my morning class, Sidekicks-Socks knit from East to West with Janel Laidman.  Janel was so wonderful.  And look at these beautiful socks!

The class was really informative and I think it could be really fun to knit socks this way to change things up, sideways that is.  She has many designs with this sideways structure.  She just seemed like a really fun person, and the class went by so quickly.

Oh, and this is Janel showing off the cover of her new book that will be out very shortly.  That’s her feet on the cover!

So I had to rush from my class to go meet up with Lori and Jenny at the World Record Breaking Knitting event.  They were saving me a seat-with Allie!

We started a bit late, but there was quite a bit more pomp and circumstance than I was expecting.  Apparently the Guinness people need things just so.  So once everyone was gathered and lots of pictures were taken, we simply knit for 15 minutes.  Here’s the view as we finished breaking the World Record for the most people knitting together in one place at the same time (or something like that).

So after that we were exhausted from holding up those straight needles, so Lori, Jenny and I headed to some yummy Lebanese food.  Then, we were all ready for more shopping!  Man, the same thing happened as yesterday!  I got overwhelmed and bought sock yarn.  Imagine that.

Then, we looked through the sock museum, and guess who was there!

Its Barbara Walker!

Ok, but hold your excitement, because as I was taking this photo, guess who comes walking up….

Its Stephanie AND Barbara!

Holy cow.  And by then we were so high on yarn fumes we were just too giddy.  There was an event that happened where we tried to get near Stephanie to get a photo ‘with’ her without her knowing, but it ended badly, I think because we had NO brain cells left.  Oh, this is a long 4 days!

So my new haul from the market is….

OK, I am exhausted!  We went to the Bite of Oregon tonight too (a little disappointing) and there is a full day ahead tomorrow, including the Ravelry party OMG!  Must get to bed! (I apologize for any incoherentness, I am so wiped)

Hidcote is finished!

Major Progress!
