Last week I was sorting through a few things in my craft room(/guest bedroom) and stumbled upon a project. Back in High School I had gotten some balls of fabric strips (about 1-2″ wide) that my Great Grandma had cut (most likely out of old clothes) and sewn into strips. I had decided at the time to braid them and then sew them into a rug. I started that in the summer of 2000 but was having trouble keeping it flat and had since drug it around with me without making any progress on it at all. So I looked at it and decided I should just undo it. As I was undoing it, I though it could be fun to crochet it. Unfortunately that meant unbraiding the whole thing too. Where do I get these brilliant ideas?
I bought a gigantic crochet hook and went to town. I kept trying to do it in the round in a circle, then an oval, and redid it about 4 times. I just couldn’t get it to lie flat again. So, in the end I decided doing rectangular rows would be best. Once I finally got going on that, it flew! I am very happy. It is really squishy. I think I would definitely do this again.
I also decided the other night to make another snowflake. I was sitting watching tv, what else was I to do? This is going to knit night for our gift exchange on Monday. This one is Snowflake # 7 by Sally V. George.
I am hoping to get some more projects done in the next two weeks, I have some time off of work and hope to enjoy it. I have lots in the queue.
