Last Thursday when I was sent home from work I was sad. So to cheer myself up I decided to get out my knitting (and a bottle of wine and my favorite TV shows). I had FINALLY set the twist in my citrus batt yarn and had been itching to knit it with not enough free time. So on came Project Runway I had missed from the night before and I cast on. I continued through the bottle of wine and on-to the season premiers of Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy and I finished the hat. And, I was unhappy with the hat. I wore it a little friday to try to make myself like it, but to no avail. Sad. I used Halley’s Comet Hat by Marnie MacLean. It started at the top of the hat which was cool and I liked. But unfortunately it was too long and with the color variegation of the yarn I would want to take out more of the orange from the top. Bummer. Besides that I was not a big fan of the decrease used in the middle of each panel. So I told myself I would have to re-knit it, and that is what I did Sunday night – Monday morning. To ease in knitting I started from the bottom up. I changed around the pattern on the second one, so it is similar to the Halley’s comet, but definitely don’t expect to get what I got from following the pattern. I just can not knit anything as written. ANYWAY, the finished hat was debuted at the pumpkin patch with my mom’s kindergartners yesterday. I AM IN LOVE! It is wonderful! Here are photos!
