Life is getting busy

Boy, I have barely knit the past few weeks! Life has gotten a bit crazy with the buying a house and moving and all. As I look around my living room at the moment there are huge stacks of packing paper and boxes yet to be used, many piles of already packed boxes, and a huge stack of stuff to bring to the house tonight including a few dishes, cleaning supplies and painting gear!

I did find time to bake a cake for one of my knitting friends, Lori, to bring to knitting last Monday night. Plus, it gave me an excuse to use my pretty cake server :) This is a ginger-lemon bundt cake from a Weight Watchers recipe and it was AMAZING! HIGHLY recommended by all, exceot from my perception I should have waited to let the glaze set up a tiny bit before dumping it on the cake. Oh well, it was still delicious.

In knitting news, I have been working on a steeking sweater for quite some time not without telling you much. Ravelry says I started it on January 9th, which seems pretty accurate. I did introduce the yarn to you as well as a pattern I gave up on back here. So a little more about the project:
1. This summer I got a great deal on some beautifully colored fingering weight yarn
2. I really love colorwork
3. I decided, heh! Lets use this pretty colored yarn to do a colorwork circular yoke, I have always wanted to do that.
4. I saw this awesome Fair Isle book and was like, I can totally design a sweater!
5. I got a little carried away with the first design, as can be seen in that previous blog post.
6. Once I toned things down I was way happier with the design
7. A beautiful colorwork yoke sweater MUST have beautiful colorwork at the ends of the sleeves and body, so that is what I am doing
8. It is going to be a cardigan and thus must knit a beautiful colorwork seed stitch band down the front from which to stee (EEKKK!!!)

So here it is in current state!

The colorwork pattern will continue with a band of purple diamonds on blue band at the bottom and ends of sleeves.

I am really loving it, the colorwork was just the right level of fun and challenging. And now I can do a nice big run of stockinette in the round for some mindless knitting as I find little time to knit. Oh, and I am holding the colored fingering weight yarn double and using Knit Picks swish worsted for the grey parts, the gauge is perfectly even between the two, luckily! Needles are size 6 Addis. I am just a teeny bit worried that it is going to be really hot, but as a cardigan it will make a lovely lighter jacket even. Now what to do about the band, make it a button band, or do a zipper? Or some sort of closures other than buttons? Hmmmm…..

OK, well, we get the house tonight at 5pm PST. I already have the key, yay! So more photos to come as we get into the house and paint!
