4th of July

Unfortunately this post is a week late, our internet has been flakey. But last Saturday (3rd) we packed up my new car…

We picnicked, napped, played in the sand, and then rode our bikes around town. It was lovely. Joel even got to show off his new hat.

In recent crafting news I finished up a little present to send off to a little birthday boy. This is based off Cute Ninja but I improvised to make him bigger.

I have also been sewing lately, I made myself 2 sundresses, but I have not gotten any photos yet.

I came home with this bright purpley-blue laceweight from Black Sheep a few weeks ago. I am knitting the Wisper Cardigan. Since I have such trouble wearing ’sweaters’ I decided a laceweight sweater would be a smart idea, huh? This yarn is fabulous, it is a merino/cashmere 50/50 blend and cost $3 per 200 yard skein. I know! And the color is so intense and saturated. So I was knitting away on the sweater, and then one night, it was getting pretty late, we had an accident and I cut a major hole in it, cutting multiple threads in multiple rows of knitting. Grrrrr…. So it sat on time-out for a week. When we were on speaking terms again I picked up a row behind the hole and ripper back past it, and then just began knitting again. Since this will be lots of knitting with not much yarn it is coming with me to China tomorrow.

I started this Haruni shawl a few weeks ago as well. It started as a beaded wrap this winter but I just wasn’t feeling it. It is coming along nicely for the amount of time I have actually worked on it.

I started these socks a while ago, they are the Garden Gate knee socks. The color is an ombre that I bought at Sock Summit.

Oh, on closing I must share that my corn was knee high for the 4th of July (It has grown a good foot in the last week!)

And I painted our door last week, yay!

I head to China tomorrow for 2 weeks, so expect many posts about crazy tourist things and hopefully some knitting too. Yay! More airplanes!
