Snowflakes are falling

but not at my house. Though we are in a winter weather advisory, it is pretty green out there still!

But, I did make some snowflakes instead. These are gifts for some friends. I used my random ball of crochet cotton and I think a size 1 hook? I made Snowflake # 8 and Snowflake # 3 by Sally V. George. They went together really fast, Joel was super impressed. I soaked them in a half and half starch water mixture and then pinned them out as I would a lace project and let them dry. I think they are cute! And they both measure about 3″ across.

Also in the gifting realm, Hanukkah started last night, and Joel and I decided to gift each other part of our gifts and then save the other half for Christmas. Look what I got!!!!

Yup! It’s a tensioned 3-station lazy kate and a high speed whorl!!!! I could not wait to try it out. Look how thin and twisty my singles are!

I am hoping that this as a 2 ply will be close to lace weight, well, it will definately be the closest I have ever done. Plus this is a 50/50 silk wool blend. HAH! Take that silk! But isn’t it beautiful? I bought this at Wisconsin Sheep and Wool back in September of 2008.

Well, I guess that is about it for today. Enjoy your snow if you got it! We will see what the next 24 hours of warnings actually amounts to. My guess is nothing here in the city. We will see….
