Steek with-out tears

I realized one night that I hate knitting sleeves and decided that this sweater should be short sleeved. It also helps that I am always hot, and to wear this sweater it might help it to be short sleeved. So there we go. An hour later the ribbing was done and the sweater was ready!

So this is where I started…

I sewed down either side of the middle with my sewing machine…

And then I (ehhhh!!) cut up the middle, between the machine sewed columns…

And then, it was a cardigan!

I then folded over the steek and stitched it down by hand…

I bought a zipper and sewed that on by hand…

And then, it was done!

Overall I am thrilled. I wore it today and it wore well and I am extremely happy with the short sleeves (I personally think it makes it look super cute). The steeking was not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. It was pretty awesome, actually. I was just careful and meticulous with each step. It did take some time though, sewing just the zipper on took 2 hours! I would totally encourage you to try a steeking project, it is actually quite awesome!
