Joel and I had a wonderful trip to Vancouver BC. The train ride up was great minus some loud kids for a little while. It was comfortable and enjoyable. When we got to our hotel we had a wonderful welcome wagon.
Friday was RAINY! We decided to tough it out, and after a delicious Indian lunch at Swagat Tandoori we walked through Stanley Park.
We made our way to the aquarium where we could spend some time inside. It was wonderful!

Joel checking out the Tad Poles
After all that excitement we headed back to the hotel to rest and then had a delicious Sushi dinner at Miko Sushi.
Saturday was still rainy. Oh well. We decided to head to the Chinese Classical Gardens. We had an excellent tour from a wonderful woman in the gardens. I think I want to build a small one in our new backyard
By the end of the tour it was lunch time, and Joel had so been looking forward to Chinese Noodle Soup. We stayed in Chinatown and had AMAZING soup at Kam Gok Yuen. It was barbecue pork with shrimp dumplings and noodles in an amazingly flavorful broth. Mmmmmm…..
That afternoon we took the seabus and headed to North Vancouver, toward Grouse Mountain. We visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park.
The beginning and end of the visit necessitates walking over this enormous suspension bridge over a huge gorge. I was so proud of Joel for making it across!
The park was so beautiful, exploring the wood in the rain.
There was even a walk through the treetops.
That night we dried out again with a second dinner of sushi at another wonderful sushi restaurant Yoshi Sushi.
Sunday morning we had to get up really early to catch our train. When we got to the train station a little after 6am, we noticed it was weird that everyone was standing outside in the cold and dark.
We quickly learned that the station had lost power. It took an hour and a half to get the power back up, and then we had to wait 30 minutes for customs agents to return, and then go through customs and board the train. We ended up leaving 2 1/2 hours late. Luckily, we still got home. And had some nice scenery along the way too! Overall, a great trip!
