A long overdue post, but today was Jenny’s baby shower and I finally got to reveal secret baby sewing that has been going on for the past few months!
Ruffle-butt onesies
This was a set of 5 from Target and then I found coordinating fabric at the fabric store. I followed these instructions I found on the blog. Check them out! So cute!
Baby Quilt
The back is a printed fabric that Jenny picked out. I then took the animal shapes and cut them out of fusible web, and fused that to the appropriate colored fabric to make the animals. I then ironed them onto a plain white fabric and zig-zagged the edges to make a clean edge. I am really happy with how this all turned out, it is pretty sweet.
Baby bumpers and Mobile
This is also the fabric Jenny picked out, matching the quilt. We found a baby bumper pad that is a firm foam insert and decided that it made the most sense to make something with removable covers to be easily washed. Jenny also wanted some batting over the foam insert for a little added softness. So what I did was cut out rectangles of the print and a white and quilted a layer of batting between then with just a large diamond pattern.
I then made it like a pillow sham to fit the foam insert inside.
The short sides I did single layout. The long sides I did double long so that it could fit two inserts.
And then there was the mobile! I free-handed the animals, then sewed two layers together and stuffed them and sewed the ribbon on for hanging.
Overall it was a huge success, and I can not wait to see it all set up in her room and ruffled on her butt! Yay!
