Boy, I still haven’t shared with you my spinning from this weekend!
At the Black Sheep Gathering back in June I bought this Ancient Breeds sampler pack from Tactile Fiber Arts. It has 1 oz each going clockwise from the white on top is Finn, Icelandic, Gotland, Norwegian, Shetland.
I decided I wanted to do one project with all the yarns, so I made the choice to spin all the singles first, then ply them all second. That way I would have the most consistent yarn between the 5 different breeds. So off I went….
I then decided to Navajo ply them all (well, actually I decided to do that before I began spinning the singles, but then I did it). And then here is the finished result:
I couldn’t be happier! They are all worsted weight. And check out how close the yardage is on each!

Shetland: 34 yards and spun nicely, I like this one

Finn: 30 yards and I loved this, very soft and squishy

Icelandic: 32 yards and spun nice, but is a bit scratchy

Norwegian: 26 yards and spun nice

Gotland: 32 yards and I am not a fan, this sucked to spin
Overall I would say this was a very successful project, I enjoyed spinning so many new fibers, and I think they might become slippers…..
