OMG. That was awesome. Lets go through step by step.
This morning started off with me trying to decide what to wear. The stress. I finally settled on my Arbour sweater.
I arrived about 15 minutes early for my class, and found a few other students already gathering in my classroom. My class today was an all-day class “Sock Heels” taught by Heather Ordover. It was amazing. It was taught by an awesome woman and the class was full of such fun women!

So if you look very closely at the photo above (view 2) you can see a very famous person in my class…….give up yet? It is Jess! From Ravelry! And, she was so nice and commented on my sweater!!!! (Totally made the right choice dressing!). Did I mention there were some fun women in the class…

Chicken, Wooly Mammoth (From Kenosha), Finger Bob (Jess') and some Bourbon that they are all sharing while we knit
So the actual learning part of the class was awesome too. I learned 6 new sock heels plus a new technique for toe-up heels with flaps. I do not have all of them finished, but I got a good deal finished in the class!

After class was done I got in line for the Marketplace to open. Yay!! I was not the only one.

Me and my few(hundred) friends waiting for the marketplace

I can see yarn!!

The ladies of the hour are spotted!
So I think they were all starting to get worried about an angry mob starting, so some entertainment was started for us.

99 bottles of beer on the wall

Stephanie, "No, No, No. Not bottles of beer, SKEINS of YARN!"
Check out the video here:
Then we got in!

The marketplace was overwhelming, including this gigantic, motorized, spinning swift!
So at some point I ended up home with some dinner from Pastaworks. As my head started to clear I realized I had spent 2 hours in the marketplace and just went into a coma at some point. I did manage to come away with some goodies.

Amazing t-shirt from City Knitting

Sweet stainless steel Bryspun sock blockers in Medium

Adorable dangle-from-your-wrist-while-on-the-go project bag from: knit, purl, sew what?

2 skeins Dream in Color Starry sock weight with silver in Dusky Aurora. OMG SILVER!!!!! Real Silver!

Malabrigo superwash merino in persia.

One of my favorite dyers, Creatively Dyed Yarn's Tradewinds-Soursop and Steele-Jill

And lastly, my steal of the night, 2 lbs 50% Yak, 50% Alpaca roving from Bijou Spun
It was an amazing day. I am feeling very lucky to have got in and gotten classes. Hopefully for those of you who were not able to make it, this can help show the atmosphere and fun of the Summit.

I had a class this morning, but couldn’t wait for the market to open. The Dusky Aurora Silver yarn is absolutely stunning. I hope there’s some left when I get back. Have fun.
Isn’t that roving the softest thing ever!!! Like HEAVEN! LOVE Bijou Basin Ranch…it is the BEST.

Thank you…I had to make a decision to visit new grandson and attend daughter’s wedding or go to sock summit…had to think and contemplate as to how angry family would be but…had to pick family…
You just made my day…Thank You
I could not afford the trip there, but I am there in spirit. I combed the Net tonight for ANY words about today’s Sock Summit activities and found your blog. Thank you so much for sharing! You are awesome! I hope your Summit days are all a blast.
Thanks for the view of the other side of the Market doors from where I was! Love your Starry yarns – I didn’t get any in the last shipment to our shop, but the Rivendell socks in the Sock Museum were made with Starry by my friend Liz. She’d gotten the last skein.
Must find that giant swift tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing your experience at the Sock Summit! Clicked on your link from Rav! Much appreciated by those of us that didn’t make the trip.
Found you on ravelry- loved hearing all about sock summit. I can’t believe Stephanie turned down the opportunity to sing about beer- I always thought she liked that as much as wool…
Can’t wait to see the next update.
Thank you so much for the video! That looked like a lot of fun
Ditto Susan at 6:59 am. I’m so jealous.
Thanks for the update. Love the photos.
Guess I shouldn’t whine to much…yesterday I was off and we went to the Sows Ear in Verona and then went to a picnic at the Governer’s house (yes the Gov. in Madison). Me and about 100 other people on a lovely evening on one of the lakes in Madison. But still….
The Sock Summit would have been more exciting. The Dream in Color is beautiful, I’ve been looking at Starry on the Loopy Ewe for awhile.
Back to work now….
Thank you for sharing your great photos with all of us. Just wish Ihad been in on the fun!
Awesome Silver studded yarn! can’t wai to see what you make with it
Your choices from the market totally rock. I’ll have one of each, please.
OMG, when I saw the Starry I squealed out loud! Thanks for the view for those of us who aren’t there!!
Thanks for posting a photo of Kay partying in class. I’m just back home in Illinois and my feet haven’t really touched the ground yet. I was beyond awesome.
Excellent post thank you for the info
