How does your garden grow?

Like crazy!

So here are some shots of the garden to give an update.  Things are chugging along nicely, and are quite a drastic improvement to where it was last time I shared about it here.

Joel and I get to have a large salad each night to keep up with the lettuce (and it is a great addition to our diet without the grocery store price).  I can not believe the rate at which the potatoes and sun flowers are growing.  The tomatoes and zucchini have blooms on them which is super exciting.  The only disappointment so far has been the celery.  I must have planted the seeds wrong or something, because nothing ever sprouted.  I am especially proud that the only ‘bought’ plants are one of the tomatoes and one of the peppers (oh, and the basil), to add a little extra variety to the mix last minute.  Everything else was grown from seed (except the potatoes that were grown from potatoes, oh and the rosemary was a cutting).

Next year I think I will forgo the peat pods and start in cups instead.  Plus, I will need to establish a ‘home’ for them with a grow light.  But for the first year I think things are coming along pretty dang well, including the fact that the Landlord decided to rip out the old fence and put in a new one the day my parents arrived.  I was very nervous about this destroying my garden, but the construction guys were very respectful of the garden and only one sunflower was harmed in the building of the fence.  He did not die though, he just had a rough week and is now a week behind the other sunflowers.  Poor little Nemo.

Lastly, a few fushia shots for your enjoyment!  Remember when I bought them as tiny little starts back here?
