So I know this is not a horrible thing, but I am stuck in Hong Kong. I had this glorious plan mapped out for each day of what I needed to accomplish with different companies for this visit. Unfortunately my travel companion is having some delays getting his Visa, and now basically 2 days have been lost from our plans. I know I should be jumping up and down to have time paid to have nothing to do in Hong Kong, but it messes up the plan! So now, a new plan. Explore!
Part of today was spent meeting with a company and going over details and such, and then they took us out to eat at a wonderful Japanese retaurant. Then I and my travel companion went exploring. I was given shopping tasks so I set off for the market to get that accomplished. I found a co-worker a pashmina wrap and my mom a silk one that is ‘chinese looking’ but not red, as I was directed. Then, I decided to try to track down a yarn store in the same area! Yay! So as we were venturing I ran across the world’s largest zucchinni. SERIOUSLY! They are huge. Photographic evidence below:

OK, so then we found the store! Yay!

I ventured up that tiny staircase and came upon a great little yarn store!

This is the Double Knit Yarn & Co at 179 Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok. They were extremely friendly and knew enough English that it made conversation work. Lots and lots of worsted weight yarn, which I wasn’t feeling at the time. But I did come out with some sock yarn and some Addis, although now I wish I had bought a few more sets of circs because they were so cheap! (Maybe I will find another yarn store tomorrow……)

Oh! Last night I tried something new and fun! This Chinese restaurant had (I think it was called) Bean Curd Pudding? Basically soy milk thickened (I think that is what I gathered) and served hot it a cool barrel type vessel. They had a thin sugar syrup to eat with it. It was really good.

Finally, I will leave you with some parting shots of Hong Kong from my room in the hotel. Good night!

(Look closely to see the man doing Thai Chi by the fountain)
