So a really quick post here, but in the morning I leave for a week and a half continuous work travel to Illinois and then China/Hong Kong! I am so excited for knitting time! Here is the conversation Joel and I had.
Keri: The plane ride from San Fran to Hong Kong is like 15 hours!
Joel: You better bring a book
Keri: Heck no! I’m bringing knitting!
Joel: You can’t knit for 15 hours straight!
Keri: Watch me!
Joel: Have you ever knit for 15 hours before?
Keri: I have never had the opportunity!
Keri: (smiles to herself thinking of all the knitting time on airplance….ahhhh……)
So I have been all worried now about what to bring along to knit. Things that are not too big, a range of mindless to involving depending on what I need at that time, and that I ideally have started and need to finish. I was starting to pack tonight, and I decided to photograph current state projects. So, here’s the photo list:
1. Handspun shawl

See, I told you I was packing! This is the handspun I finished up recently. I really like a certain triangular shawl pattern and rewrote it to be more of a rectangular wrap with triangular ends. More specific details to come. I am super anxious to get this done so I can wear it
2. Joel’s sweater

Not much progress has been made on Joel’s sweater lately as most of my knitting is happening in random places or while watching LOST and such. This sweater requires much more attention, which will be great for the airplane! I would love to see me get much further on this sweater, I promised Joel it will be done for the Fall.
3. Baby Blanket for Baby P

This I did start specifically for this trip, but it needs to be done around the end of June, so I figured it is about time to start. I am making it up as I go along, but it is going to be log cabin-ish style knit in garter stitch. Fun!
4. Sock Blank socks

This has been my purse knitting project for a week or two, and they are coming along nicely. The first photo is kind of washed out, the second is more true to the colors. It is going really well, I am just doing plain stockinette stitch. I want to up my sock knitting so I can better justify spending money at the sock summit this summer!
5. 2nd sock blank socks
I also have another identical sock blank that I threw in for good measure just in case!
So that’s the plan! Lets see where things look in a week and a half when I get home
I also hope to get a few minutes to take pictures while overseas, and if I can and get internet and such I will attempt to blog about it here! Thanks for reading!

Hey, Keri, check and make sure your circular needles will be allowed on the flight back from Hong Kong. I have read stories of circs being pulled out of knitting when you’re going through security–put a lifeline in the row you’re on just in case.
