Back on track

Thank you for the comments.  Yesterday I finally had the courage to sit down and re-attack the sweater.  After much thought I decided to undo the last row of decreases and then knit the icord bind-off with a considerably larger size needle.  It looks great now,  Joel was very impressed.  I also realized that I had started the ribbing in the bottom cabeling every ribbing row, instead of every other.  UGH!  Luckily I had only cabled once, so after spending an eon doing the neck, I got to go spend a second eon undoing 3 ribbing stitches out of every 10 stitches.  This involved unraveling those 3 stitches for 5 rows and then picking them back up again in the proper order.  But, now all is right in the world of Arbour.  YAY!

Oh, I promised to show off my new spinning project.  This is a batt from Wooly Treasures that Joel got me for my birthday (mentioned here).

Back when I was waiting for my February Lady sweater to dry so I could finish knitting it, I decided to start spinning this.  Two words, LOVE IT!  This was so much fun to spin and it was full of so many kinds of fiber: wool, alpaca, bamboo, silk, etc.  It has lots of sparkle in it too, yay!  I was so unsure of how to spin and ply this and debated over it for a while.  I was thinking about plying it with thread, then navajo, then against a plain white or black wool or alpaca.  In the end, I found a great multi-color varigating thread to ply it with.  It turned out pretty awesome.   750yds total and it is about fingering weight, yahoo!  No wonder this took so long!  And a big thanks to my wonderful hubby for the new larger bobbins, they make such a difference!  I had some issues with getting the plying to turn out how I would like, some spots are a bit loose.  But it should knit up fine.

So now the big question is, what do you think it should be?  I already have an idea of what I want to do, but lets see if anyone has a better idea?  I want to fully utilize the wonderful colorfullness of it.  And the sparkle.

  • Keri,
The yarn is beautiful! I know, I know, a scarf is boring to knit, but, making something in that yarn would be fun even if you were just doing garter stitch. The neat thing about a scarf, everyone would see it when you wore it!
