This week I went to the LA area for a tradeshow and to visit with a supplier. I was a little hesitant, because past visits to the LA area were a little lack-luster and smog filled.
Things started off well when I landed in Long Beach, the cutest little airport I think I have seen, better than Dayton, OH with the little airplanes on the carpet! Here, look for yourself!

An almost open-air airport! How fun!
Ok, so I am thinking, bright blue sky, nice weather, and there isn’t much smog. I had to drive to Anaheim and could see mountains! I never knew there were such big mountains! It was amusing that I had to park in the “Buzz Lightyear” parking lot! The next day I did my little supplier visit and ended up having a few minutes extra, so on the way back to the airport I stopped at the Santa Monica Pier!

So of course, my Wisconsin blood was so excited to see Ocean! I promptly went out and stood in the waves a bit, just so the water went up to my upper-calves. It was so exciting!

PACIFIC OCEAN!
Luckily, I was not the only crazy person, there were a few people actually IN the water, full body! But there were also people in winter jackets that we wear in Wisconsin when it is 30 below.

Playing with my camera, long shutter speed waves
Then, I found a coconut rolling around in the waves.

Hold on little coconut, here you go!
I am imagining this was an adventurous little coconut, going off on an expedition. After the course of 15 minutes he had moved a good 40 feet down the beach! I wonder where he will end up?

So I sadly had to leave the beach and head back to the airport and come back to Portland, but just wait, one more thing, SURPRISE!

Angora Lace Leaf hat at the beach!
The night before at the hotel I finished my new impulse and quick project! This is 100% luscious, beautiful Angora yarn that I talked about here. I had a hard time picking a pattern, but settled on the Lace Leaf Hat by Laura Todd. I LOVE THIS PATTERN! And the yarn, angora, yum! It is an understatement to say I am pleased with the hat. I hat 200yds of it, a little under sportweight. I didn’t even come close to using all of it, but haven’t weighed to determine. I think it was about 150yds or so used.

Have I mentioned I love this hat?
An now it is back to real life, working on the February Lady Sweater and other projects here in Portland.
