4 beautiful pounds of Llama roving!!!

4 beautiful pounds of Llama roving!!!

SURPRISE!  Look what I got last week!  While I was back in the midwest for the Holidays I got an email from Jane saying my llama was FINALLY ready!  Yay!  So I sent her money and she sent me this big box of goodness!  I received the package last Monday (the 12th) and proceeded to IMMEDIATELY begin spinning it.  It is better then I could have ever hoped for.  For those who do not know, or need a reminder, the story of the Llama Drama can be found here, here and here.  The wonderful picking job I did (with Joel’s help) payed off big time because there is virtually NO VM!  WOW!  And the fibers are long and soft and silky, ahhhhh……  Plus, tie that together with the new jumbo flyer and bobbins Joel got me and look what you get:

This, people, is the biggest skein in the whole entire world.  It took FOREVER to wrap the thing off onto my niddy noddy.  But it was oh so worth it.

Please excuse my irregular spinning technique

Here are the specs:

  • Fiber: Llama (of course!)
  • Weight: worsted-ish
  • Yardage: a whopping 442 yards!!!!
  • Weight: 7 7/8oz (wow!!!)

These photos are before it gets its bath, which is yet to come, maybe still tonight.

I went to a new knitting group here in Portland and they were talking about doing a February Lady Sweater knit-along, and I have wanted to knit that, so this might become that (plus another 2 skeins I will then have to spin, darn!)
