Well, it has been over three weeks since I left home and came out west. Boy, a lot has happened. But, first, fun exciting news! I finished Joel’s socks!

Sorry for the bad photos. Apparently black socks are very hard to photograph! I ended up having to buy a third skein of the Regia Silk before leaving Wisconsin in order to make these long enough for Joel. As a reminder, this is the HaretonSocks pattern by Kate Blackburn that can be found here. I think I pretty much followed the pattern, except I knit it toe-up, modifying the heel from this pattern here. I did two-at-a-time on circulars which is wonderful. I love this yarn, but the only gripe is it gets fuzzy and sticks together and then has little burrs that you have to pick off and such. But knit up it is beautiful. Joel has not seen them yet as I finished them about 2 weeks ago, but I will have to see if I can take a better picture of the socks on him.
In moving and work news everything is going well. Work is going very well and I can not believe I have only been there such a short while now! I began moving our things into our new home on December 6th. I have since been busily trying to make it live-able. It is turning out nicely, just a little smaller then we are used to. I have been especially working on the kitchen and living room, bedroom, bathroom – you know, all the “important” rooms. Then Sunday I got a bug up my butt and decided that I was going to do the sewing/crafting/guest room. YAY! I found all my fun stuff and yarn and knitting needles, horray! Oh, and the two large boxes of Llama wool! I decided I needed to find projects for the trip home, so, yay for new projects!
1. I promised John I would make him a green cozy for his Garmin. Since he is going to watch the kitties for me while I go home I decided this should be at the top of the list. - I am half done already!
2. I saw this hat recently on Ravelry, and then I saw this cute teal-ish yarn in my stash, and decided I must have a new hat! (Plus it was snowing at the time) - I am probably about 1/4 to 1/3 done. Oh, and for those of you who know me well, this hat has bobbles! That is how much I love the hat! I know, caziness! I must be losing my mind.
3. I told John I would make him fingerless mitts for his birthday, so it can’t hurt to start early for that.
4. Paul mentioned he would like a purple and black striped scarf. What better car-knitting then a 2×2 ribbed scarf with irregular stripes? It will be great! – I have the black yarn, but I think I will wait until I get back to WI to buy some purple because then it will be one last thing for me to carry with on Sunday.
5. I should probably finish my tea-cozy that I started this summer. Yeah, just got a little sick of it and it needed to hibernate for a while. But putting the tea pot away the other day reminded me I must finish it!
Oh, and mentioning snow, we got all of like an inch yesterday and everyone here thinks they are going to die and everything was shut down, tomorrow still too! Seriously. The scary part is we are possibly going to get like 6 inches Wednesday and more this weekend. As long as this does not effect my plane rides home on Sunday, I will be ok. It was nice to see some snow though. With everything going on I have not been feeling into the Holiday spirit so much, just too busy. I hope when I get back to frigid Wisconsin and see family again that will help everything.
In other news I have worked some on the Lily of the Valley shawl, but I am just not feeling it right now. So, that is on the back burner right now. I think I need some instant gratification projects, which is what my project list is full of right now!
Thank you to everyone for the kind words and support. This has been a bit stressful the last 2-3 months, especially when I had to leave Joel in WI. I am hoping after we get back out here to the West coast the new year can bring some more normalcy and maybe even more regular blogging. Have a Happy Hanukkah and a Merry Christmas and whatever other Holiday you might celebrate. I hope you can celebrate with those you love, and I wish you all the best in the New Year!

Hi Keri
Life stops when there is 1″ of snow. You’ve gotta be having fun watching folks freak out about it. Sounds like things are getting some semblance of order. It’s was good to have an update. The socks are lovely….just think of all the “events” knit into those! Safe flights on Sunday. We’re going to talk about changing knitting to avoid missing two weeks because of the holidays. Perhaps you can pop in for a visit.
Still missing you….take care.
Paulette
Holy Projects, Batman! I love the beanpole hat, too. The socks look great, hope all is well with you today. Travel safely!
