Sweet Home Oregon

Well, I made it!  Here’s the photo journey of the last week or so.

The packers packed all our things Tuesday and the movers showed up bright and early Wednesday

The movers loaded all our things into this great big truck. The loading was a bit precarious, so I really could not watch.

After sitting for an hour and a half an ambulance came, and I learned a tractor-trailer jack-knifed just around that bend in the road.

More emergency vehicles finally showed up. We got moving after I had been stopped for 3 hours and 15 minutes.

I finally made it to the Columbia river valley and could see Mt. Hood in the distance. Just a few hours late, stupid snow!

I am still not used to seeing this type of view every day!

So I made it to Portland a bit late and it was dark and I was crabby and frustrated.   But I got to have dinner with a whole bunch of friends, which was what made it all better.  The temporary housing they set up for me was wonderful, the kitties are happy and the plants are recovering.
I have now worked at my new job for three days of training which has went well and I think this is going to be a really good fit for me.  I am still getting used to the more casual atmosphere of the West coast.  I am also trying to find a permanent house for Joel and I to rent, so that is a little stressful, but I think I can do it.  I am sad to not be spending this Thanksgiving with the families, and I am sad that I had to leave Joel in Wisconsin, but I will get to spend Thanksgiving with an old friend and I get to go up to Seattle for the first time!
In crafting news, I bet you can guess how much free-time I have had to work on things.  I brought with Joel’s socks to finish and they are progressing, and I started the Lily of the Valley shawl, but barely.  Hopefully there will be more updates on things soon as I find some time.  I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving, and to all those I left in Wisconsin, I miss you all!
