Recent spins out in the sun
So in the quest to find a new job I get a little sick of sitting at the computer and I have had the itch to spin. Here are my recent results.
First off is the handpainted roving I claimed I was going to put away. As you can see, that did not happen.

Handpainted by me Merino Roving

I am calling it 'Under the Sea'

Each skein is about 3.5 oz of Merino and is spun as thick/thin singles that amounted to 72 and 66 yards. I LOVE THIS! I was a little unsure of the roving, but I thought it would be fun to spin thick/thin, and I am getting sick of plying, so the singles were a fun idea. The kinky parts will pull out as it gets knit.
Next up is the sparkly blue batt I got at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival from Biggie.

Sparkly Blue Batt(s)

Close-up, you can see the beads
So for this one I took the batt(s) and just started spinning from the end. I let it get dark and light and dark&light. I spun worsted weight singles that amounted to 170 yds from 2 oz of material. These batts were made from: mill end wool, mohair, recycled pop bottles, sparkle and soy. I then strung a bazillion little glass seed beads in alternating shades of light and dark blue onto sewing thread. I underestimated the number of beads twice. There is one bead every 6-12ish inches. I love the end result, but I am probably not doing that again. First off stringing all the beads again and again was agonizing and then placing them and trying to get the plying to look nice was a pain in the butt. I like plying with thread, just not with the beads too. The end.
Lastly I will talk about the first yarn I was spinning (I am odd).

Wool/Angora Rabbit yarn

Closeup
First off, I have to apologize for not taking a picture of the roving and being too lazy to go do it right now. (I have more of this stuff still, yay!). This is a wool and angora rabbit blend that I bought from a local farm. The lady thinks it was Jacob, so if anyone can give me any comment on that I would appreciate it. It is wonderfully delicious. I spun straight from the roving, no tricks or special techniques, just drafted it. The results are as follows: 3 oz at 188 yds, 2.75 oz at 166 yds, and 1 oz at 72 yds.
That’s about it. Any ideas what to do with it, please feel free to comment.

Your yarn is making me drool. Is that wrong?
I can’t decide which one I like best, nor do I know what to do with it. I suggest you just take in its awesomeness for awhile. Bravo!
