Well, hello there!
Welcome to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival! I just had one of the best days in a long time. Joel and I went down to Jefferson, WI to the Fair grounds. We saw so many wonderful things, I will just walk you thought all of it with LOTS of pictures – you have been warned!
First we watched a Stock Dog show by Joyce Burnham of Custom Stock Dogs. It was so neat to watch the animals respond to the dog, and how well the dog took command from Joyce.

Hearding Sheep

Hearding Ducks!!! Running Ducks!
Next we headed over the the show buildings to start looking at some sheep. First we came upon the kids, and this one was just cute!

They should get first place in my book!
Then we found the major judging area! Wow!

Sheep Sheep Sheep
Then we walked through all the barns of sheep, yay! There were even lambs!

Sheep

More Sheep

Look at this guy!

Loved this sign (Mule is a breed of sheep)

4 day old babies!!

Too cute!
Then we watched a Shearing Demonstration by David Kier. He was so fun and taught the audience a wealth of information about shearing sheep, info I didn’t even know I wanted to know. He did like 8 sheep and Joel and I sat front row! Joel wants to shear 1-sheep, just one, and he would be proud of himself he said. Some day, Joel, some day.

Shearing a very feisty spring lamb

His good time is less than 1 minute a sheep!
By then I had filled my brain with sheep knowledge and it was time to start emptying the pocket book!

Happy Purchases!!

1-8oz ball of Moorit Roving Sun Valley Farms Icelandic sheep (no clue what I am going to do with it, but thought it would be fun to try).

2 batts from Biggie (just too beautiful to pass up, not sure what is going to happen to these either).
2oz of millend wool, mohair and hemp in citrus shades
2 oz of millend wool, mohair, recycled pop bottles, sparkle and soy in shades of blue

From Elaine’s Custom Carding I bought 2 wool sock flats 2 ply fingering, about 240 yds each and dye to make them pretty: Cushing’s Perfection Dyes in Turquoise Blue, Aqua Green and Turquoise

2 blended braids Yarns Forever/ Creatively Dyed Yarns (I just had to snatch up some of her stuff, and the milk protein just has to be tried!).
4 oz hand dyed 20 % milk protein, 40 % silk, 40 % wool
4 oz hand dyed 50 % wool, 50% tencel

4-1oz balls of CVM roving from Aarandale (these were soft, squishy and cheap! I might dye them….?).

6+ oz of BFL / wensleydale blend roving and 3oz of BFL locks from Riverwinds Farm (I am going to try spinning in pieces of the locks when I am spinning, we will see how that goes).
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I dropped off some of the Llama with the Illinois Wool and Fiber Mill. I had just over 4 pounds of some brown skirted and ready to go, so they are going to process it and turn it into roving, yay!!!!!
So there you have it! It was a long day but a wonderful day. It actually started with a wonderful breakfast with some great friends and ended with a viewing of Tropic Thunder. The movie was great, you should go see it!
Thanks for looking!

What a fantastic day you had! Love all your purchases.
