Is the week over yet?

I have a serious case of the Tuesdays today (does that exist?) and it sucks.  But as a pick me up I was brainstorming.  Here is what I was thinking about.

The company I work for has its headquarters where I work, so I work with a lot of wonderful customer service, sales and accounting people, who happen to be mostly female (in population, not individually…that sounds weird, anyway).  So every December we ladies get together for a Christmas party where we have dinner and do some fun activity and do a gift exchange.  The gift exchange is the type where one person opens any present from anyone.  Then the next person goes and can either steal their present or pick a new one, and on it goes.  It is a lot of fun.  WELL, I was thinking, “Hey!  I should knit something this year!”

Ok, I know what you are thinking, but YES, I do think about Christmas presents 6 months in advance.  SORRY!  It takes a lot of stress off the holiday season so I can have FUN!

Back to the story, so I decided to browse around Ravelry for some ideas.  I stumbled upon some neat colorwork stockings, and decided that would be really fun.  So, I started sketching out some ideas of what this could look like.  This is what I came up with.  Keep in mind that I was using highlighters and such to break up the colors, so this is not representative of what colors I would use.  This would just be the top of the stocking, more to come later.

On other news, when I got home from work the alpaca I spun this weekend was FINALLY dry!  So I decided that I would wind it into balls, because I think that is a lot of fun.  Here are some photos of the adventure.  The most fun part was that I made a bit of a mess.  The roving had a bit of VM in it, which most came up during spinning and when I was fulling it.  But I got some more out when it was spinning around on the swift.  Note my wonderful sewing cabinet that I am so proud of, I put a lot of work into that baby!

Oh, sounds like dinner is done, Joel is making paella with eggplant and zucchini and it smells awesome.  I will leave you with my beautiful flowers from the farmers market on Saturday!

  • A niogewran reader reports for duty! First, don’t be intimidated by the whole Norway as ‘the sacred knitting country’ thing, haha. In the past, it was mostly grandmothers who knitted, but it’s become trendy in the last yeas to knit, so I think it’s kind of a new and exciting journey for many here, I should know as I’m one of them;-)Personally, I’d love the idea of trying something new like the casein yarn (or even the soy, if it’s any good?) – I had’nt even heard about them until I read your post. Everyone’s going crazy over all sorts of Alpaca here lately, so it’s definitely popular – but therefore not that new or uncommon here.Locally spun wool or merino sound great too!Not sure this was really any help though;-)Good luck!
